AI Basics by Aryash.guru

Use AI well.

Free, plain-English guides to the tools changing how we work.

ChatGPT. Claude. Gemini. Perplexity. The names are everywhere. The guides are mostly written for people who already know what they're doing. These pages are for everyone else.

Start with ChatGPT

What is AI? In one minute.

These tools are called Large Language Models — LLMs for short. You can think of them as very good autocomplete. You type something, and the model predicts what useful words should come next. The result feels like a conversation.

They are useful because they have read a huge amount of text and can put ideas together quickly. They can explain, summarise, translate, draft, plan, and practise with you.

They are not magic. They can be confidently wrong. They do not know what happened yesterday. They do not have your judgement. The goal is to use them — not to trust them blindly.

Four big ones. Four guides ready.

Use AI safely

Four simple rules. Each one will save you trouble.

🔒

Don't share secrets

Never paste passwords, bank details, ID numbers, or other people's private information. Treat the chat box like a postcard, not a diary.

🔍

Check the facts

If it matters, check it. AI can sound certain and still be wrong. Names, dates, numbers, laws, medicines — always verify.

🎯

Be specific

Vague questions get vague answers. Tell it who you are, what you need, and what good looks like. The more you give, the better it works.

🧠

Keep your judgement

AI is a tool. You are the one with the situation, the stakes, and the responsibility. Use what helps. Discard the rest.

Two more tools to try

Build prompts in 60 seconds, or read three short lessons on how prompting works.
